In transit...

I've just arrived in Miami safe and sound and am really looking forward to the last and final leg of my journey tomorrow! I'm so thankful to have been given the opportunity to do this and I can’t believe how much support I’ve received over the past month.

My family, friends and colleagues have been tremendously generous with their donations to the efforts in Haiti -I feel so lucky to have the support of such kindhearted people! I also received a very thoughtful donation of high quality stock for the clinic from Medalin which will be critical for our treatment at the clinic. It’s really incredible to see how much can be done when people come together and share their resource :)

It’s been quite a busy couple weeks getting myself organized for today but its finally here, and not a moment too soon! Due to an unexpected bought of the flu I ended up bed-ridden for the better part of Sunday & Monday so I spent most of last night finishing packing up both my room and my bags –just in time to catch my flight.

It hadn’t really crossed my mind that packing would be such an event but considering the fact that I’ve not done work like this before and have never spend more than 2 weeks in a hot place it was a bit strange to only pack one long sleeve t-shirt and to consider so many new and unknown variables. Thankfully, I had some invaluable help from a (very patient) friend on what to pack and what to leave behind, hopefully I didnt forget anything too important!

These are some of the donations we've got for the clinic so far :)
